Divine is a tomographic velocity image package written specifically for personal computers running Windows 95/98/NT/2000 or Unix workstations. The name is taken from the word 'divine', which loosely means to discover by inspiration that which is hidden.

The package is available in modular form whereby additional modules may be added to a primary package according to the functionality required. The primary package, the traveltime picking module, wavefield migration module and wavefield processing modules are available for Windows 95/98/NT/2000 now. The remaining modules which are being developed are for microseismic event processing and reflection point migration.

The primary package performs tomographic imaging using P or S transmitted and reflected traveltimes an P to S mode conversion reflection times. It has two roles, velocity imaging and generation of synthetic traveltimes through a given velocity model.

The trace interpretation module provides trace display and interactive picking of traveltimes. There are a range of facilities, such as horizon flattening and auto picking, to assist in efficient and consistent trace interpretation. Frequency filtering and trace scaling by AGC, global, trace by trace and group by group factors are also provided.

The wavefield processing module incorporates a number of multi-trace processing options applicable to source or receiver gathers and rotation functions for multi-component sensor data processing.

The migration module performs pre-stack depth migration using a diffraction stack method. Migration of any survey configuration may be specified, surface reflection, VSP, offset VSP, crosshole and single well. The migration times used in the stack are calculated from the tomographic velocity field with ray bending at velocity interfaces, ray bending due to vertical velocity gradients and anisotropic corrections applied if these were used in the tomographic imaging.
